Directors Cut chooses Digital Vision's Nucoda Film Master for fully-integrated DI workflow

London, UK, 23rd November 2010 – Digital Vision has today announced that Soho-based post production facility Directors Cut has installed a Nucoda Film Master, which forms the heart of its DI grading suite. The system is being used to grade all programmes that come through the facility, with particular emphasis on grading native RED files allowing the material to maintain the full quality of the original footage.

The Nucoda Film Master was used for the first time earlier this month to grade a documentary based on the conductor Ben Zander. The material was graded directly from media stored on the facility’s Avid Unity allowing the online to continue while the grade was in progress and the material then re-linked. This installation further highlights Digital Vision’s tight integration with Avid.

Mark Manning, Directors Cut CEO comments, “We used this workflow for the first time when grading the Ben Zander documentary and it worked amazingly well. Nucoda Film Master has transformed file-based workflows and significantly improved speed and quality of grading with no compromise. It’s the best system on the market.”

Andy Elliott, Directors Cut Colourist agrees, “We looked at the system at IBC because of its strong profile and high regard within the creative community and were really impressed by its functionality. It has sophisticated grading capabilities, a fully-equipped noise reduction toolset, file-based workflow and Avid Unity integration. It fits our facility perfectly and the high standard of results can already be seen in the work we’ve completed.”
