Image Systems flagship colour grading and finishing system Nucoda Film Master, which will be demonstrated at the show, has recently been used to grade a number of cutting-edge films in the region including animated 3D blockbuster Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole graded by Animal Logic’s award-winning Head Colourist Eric Whipp. Indian feature 180 directed by Jayendra was graded on Nucoda Film Master by colourist Kevin Shaw. Due for release next month, the film has created a lot of press attention in the region as the complexities of the plot and the meaning of the title 180 have been a closely guarded secret.

Asian debut:

  • Golden Eye Archiver telecine and film scanner: A high-speed and high-resolution film scanner for motion picture film, Golden Eye Archiver can scan 8mm/16mm/35mm/70mm film in SD, HD or full 2K resolution in up to real-time directly from DPX sequences. The unique film transport using capstan drive and optical registration is optimised for gentle handling of old, fragile film from the archives.
  • The Precision grading panel: Developed in conjunction with renowned colourists and a leading industrial design house, the Precision panel is the next generation integrated control surface for the Nucoda grading and Phoenix restoration solutions. Offering ease of navigation for improved speed of operation, the Precision panel also has a stylish look and feel that a premium grading suite deserves. Combining new touch-screen operation with traditional controller elements, users can access Image Systems’ latest innovative toolsets and features not available with other grading solutions and generic colour panels. 
  • Nucoda platform: Image Systems has two new solutions to compliment its premium flagship Nucoda Film Master solution, as used by leading content creators including Pixar. To address the mid-range DI grading and dailies market, the company has introduced Nucoda Fuse, a grading and finishing solution that sets the bar for functionality and performance based on the company’s leading image science technology and Nucoda colour tools. Nucoda Compose is Image Systems’ new entry-level solution that provides a cost-effective, multi-faceted workstation to aid in the grading, finishing and mastering workflow for commercials, film and television post production. All grading solutions are equipped with a 3D toolset.
  • Phoenix platform: Image Systems will demonstrate Phoenix Finish, its new flagship end-to-end restoration, re-mastering and delivery system. This focuses on creating the highest quality deliverables from film or tape-based materials. The new mid-range solution - Phoenix Refine - delivers the best in high-end restoration image processing tools to repair any defect or damage to film and video media. The entry-level Phoenix Touch, which utilises DVO technology, is a cost-effective image restoration software solution for cleaning up VFX plates and DI scans, or can be used as part of large volume restoration projects requiring manual retouch of content.
